Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Provide accurate information
• Not impersonate another individual
• Not attempt to claim a voter record that is not your own

Intrst reserves the right to suspend accounts that violate verification integrity.

2. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining confidentiality of login credentials
• All activity under your account
• Providing truthful information during verification

We may suspend or terminate accounts involved in fraud, harassment, or abuse.

3. SMS Messaging (Authentication Codes)

Intrst may send you SMS text messages for account login, verification, and security authentication, including one-time passcodes ("OTP"). By providing your phone number and requesting a verification code, you consent to receive these transactional SMS messages from Intrst.

• Message frequency: Varies (only when you request a code)
• Msg & data rates may apply
• Opt-out: Reply STOP to cancel SMS messages at any time

We do not send marketing or promotional SMS. All text messages from Intrst are transactional and related to account security and authentication only.

4. Platform Purpose

Intrst is a civic engagement platform that enables verified residents to participate in polls and civic discussions.

Intrst:

• Does not endorse candidates or parties
• Does not guarantee policy outcomes
• Does not represent official government decisions

Polls reflect user participation only.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or defame others
• Post unlawful or abusive content
• Attempt to manipulate polls
• Use automated bots or scraping tools
• Reverse engineer verification systems
• Interfere with platform integrity

Violation may result in immediate termination.

6. Intellectual Property

All platform content, design, trademarks, and technology belong to Intrst.

You retain ownership of content you post, but grant Intrst a limited license to display it within the platform.

7. Campaign & Institutional Use

Campaigns, municipalities, and organizations using Intrst agree to:

• Comply with all applicable election and campaign laws
• Not misrepresent Intrst as endorsing a candidate
• Use outreach tools in compliance with applicable regulations

Intrst is a technology provider and is not responsible for campaign messaging content.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." Intrst does not guarantee:

• Continuous availability
• Accuracy of third-party public records
• That poll outcomes reflect the full population

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Intrst shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the platform
• Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by the user in the preceding 12 months (or $100 if no payment was made)

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Intrst harmless from claims arising from:

• Your misuse of the platform
• Violation of these Terms
• Violation of applicable law

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for:

• Fraud
• Misrepresentation
• Platform abuse
• Legal compliance requirements

Users may delete their account at any time.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Any disputes shall be resolved in Massachusetts courts unless arbitration is mutually agreed.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
